The project interrogated the deconstruction of official interpretations in the past in post-socialist Slovenia and Serbia and the contesting interpretations and assessments of history. Moreover, it investigated the narratives conducive to shaping historical consciousness in the two societies.
The comparative research on (trans)forming the culture of collective and individual remembering in Slovenia and Serbia after 1991 aimed to create a wider platform for better understanding the processes that affect memory cultures, relationship to the past and official, collective and individual strategies of remembering in post-Yugoslav societies. Additionally, it aimed to contribute to a broader understanding of similar processes in European post-socialist societies at large.
